Newton rings....dont get fooled.

Thought I would post this as soon as because it could save a few of you painfully thinking you have an imaging problem when indeed you don't.

My Quark set up as usual was used in the making of this

I made 50Gb + of captures today, just copying some over to the PC & thought I would take a look at a few while files were being compiled.

The 2 images below are the exact same file put into AS!2 twice, as you can see one clearly shows what could be mistaken for either banding or Newton Rings, when I first saw the image after putting it through IMPPG I thought the mosaic stack would be wasted so I re run it through AS!2, changed the AP size from 20 - 40 then I get the 2nd image shown.

Why this happens I don't know but it just goes to show you must re check or change fields in your software if you think you may have a problem.

Just thought this may help someone in future & stop you from pulling your hair out.

Good call Ewan. It's easy to just bin a set of data because it is flawed when actually it's just some setting in the processing.

Always worth trying different settings if you are having a problem processing data.
