Registax6 Vs Autostakkert

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was lead to believe that Autostakkert may be better at certain things so I had a try. I cant seem to get a decent final image now matter what I do. The alignment seems very poor.

Any advice or if anyone can point me in the direction of a good tutorial that would be great.

Cheers

I've attached examples of the final image through both.

Rob

I'd advise putting your AVI through PIPP first , this will eliminate any frames where the planet is missing , centre the planet in the frame to give the stacking software ( Reg or AS!2 ) a better chance of aligning things correctly ; and also reorder the frames in terms of quality .

If you could load your AVI capture into 'Dropbox' and post a link to it we can have a play with the data and see where easy improvements can be made.

Thanks for your advice, PIPP is a revelation. The image already looks better.

I'm trying to upload the avi. at the moment but I'am supposed to be on holiday and the wife keeps giving me dirty looks every time the laptop comes out.

Rule #1 of Being On Holiday

Being "on holiday" does not mean that you get to do what you want.

OK , that registers as a 6-7 hour download ... I assumed you'd do the PIPP bit first before uploading , that's about 13 Gb of blank space from a 14Gb AVI ... !

Seems to be a big improvement from your first attempt though , keep at it ...

Hi Steve,

following link is post PIPP. Sorry about that before.

Would be great to see what someone with experience can do with images taken with my modest equipment and limited experience.
