skywatcher 200p

So I have th skywatcher/skyliner 200p. but I have a few things unclear about the scope.

First would be: what is that glass thing On the end of the telescope?

Second: where do you put the dew heater and doesnt it effect the Seeing, I mean whats the point of the whole cooldown period (which does greatly improve what I see) if the scope is constantly being heated?

The dew heater go at front end so when temperature is the same inside and out you get dew inside ,So the dew heater will put the temperature up inside only by 1 or 2 c to stop it dewing up inside.

i think its like that for cooling ,ive put a fan on mine so the plate on the fan protecs it abit,theirs a pic in my gallery if you wont to look. all the best.charl

Dew heaters are to prevent the opyics from dewing up, not to heat the mirror specifically.  Personally I have never found a problem with the 200P as the primary mirror is so far back.  Further up the tube I use a dew shield to protect the secondary and as a stray light deflector.
