Really young Moon

Not the most dramatic crescent shot ever taken but it beats my previous best of 22h45m by some margin.

Do you have some reference site you used to figure out a good candidate new moon to take this, or was it just a case of manually checking how each new moon would be placed?

I've wanted to have a go at this myself sometime, so any pointers would be appreciated.

Out of interest, was that a single exposure, or a stack to reduce noise?

Nice one Pete. I had a good look for this last night, but trees and cloud were against me. I was hoping someone would have caught it.

Fantastic shot Pete, I remember reading a website about some guy that specialises in this, trying to get the record down below 12 hours if I remember correctly, cant find the dam site now.

I would say that is a pretty unique capture Pete. Even knowing where and when, would not make it an easy thing to do.

I must admit that this was a toughie! Having done several thin crescents now, I know to expect something faint and then prepare to be astounded when it's even fainter than that! :shock:

Nice to see what we were looking for after sunset last night. We had an icy wind and along the horizon it was cloud and sleet over Off a's dyke - but no breaks for moon watching though the binos. Thanks for the view we missed sir.
