Hello,

Is there software that shows stars down to fainter than mag 12 or so?  variable star charts show the fainter stars but I prefer using something like stellarium if I am at home. As far as I can tell the stars shown in stellarium go down to about 10.5. When I was looking at asteroid flora the other night there were a lot more stars in the ep than on the screen.

Have you considered Cartes du Ciel?

With the added UCAC catalogue you'll get stars well below mag 14

Yes, CdC will go down to mag 17 with the right catalogs, and is free. Sky Safari Pro for the iPad will go down to about mag 15.5.

Hi

Stellarium does go down to at least 17 but you have to download all the catalogues and make sure you uncheck 'limit magnitudes' in the settings
