Sun - 11am 31st Dec - afocal iPhone (Baader film)

Here's my second attempt (following yesterday's first ever solar session) with Baader film and slightly enhanced via Photoshop Express in iOS.

I was trying to concentrate on the complex clustered area of sunspots near the 5pm lower limb.

How do you chaps, without specialised HA / solar scopes, get the orb aligned more easily than I'm managing with a standard scope? Do you make yourselves a 1" Baader film finder scope cover? I'm presently just using the finder scope (without putting my eye to it) and skewing around a little until I find the sun in the eyepiece.

And a bit closer here, without colour applied.

I'm aware it's extremely amateur compared to most of you chaps but, hey, I'm enjoying myself and you may have some tips for both afocal iPhone imaging and simple iOS photoshop express post processing!

Beautiful images :) :) :)

I have a little coronado sol finder to get roughly aligned first (any pin hole projection home made device would do) I then fish about for the solar disc in the eyepiece, sometimes it takes 10 seconds, sometimes I am there for 20 minutes!
