A couple of early Perseids

Recommended Posts

With the prospect of bright moonlight for the peak of the shower I thought I'd see what I grab beforehand, I went out with four other SGL'rs on on three different nights with Monday being the most successful. The first image is a composite of three images and the second shot of the plough is cropped down from a fisheye lens. Hopefully we'll get some crackers like last year with ionization trails but the moon will make it a challenge.

Thanks for the comments

I was using two camera's, a Canon 1100D with a 15mm lens on a fixed tripod facing North and a 600D with a Samyang 16mm F2 lens on my Astrotrac pointing overhead. Both camera's were set to run continuously with 15 second exposures so I had hundreds of images to trawl through to find a handful of meteors.

Had a few teasing gaps in the cloud to let the moonlight through, but the main show for tonight is due to be totally clouded out. Par for the course. Funny but I'm no longer disappointed when this happens, just surprised when it doesn't.
