ZWO120MC guider

Hey guys,

Can the ZWO120MC be used for auto guiding as it is quite cheap and I don't have a load of money, or should I get the QHY5L II?

Also if it can be used, is it any good? I currently use a webcam and finder which causes a lot of flexure.

Cheers

The ASI120MC should be fine as a guide camera, I use my ASI120MM without any problems through an OAG on my 8" SCT.

Mono cameras are slightly better for guiding as they are more sensitive, but a lot of people have used colour cameras without a problem.

I use a ASI120mc for guiding. It seems to be very sensitive so I haven't had any problems finding a guide star. It's cool to see some nebulosity pop out on the screen with just a 2-3 second sub, kinda surprised me coming from a SPC900 used as a guider where I just could make out the hot pixels, haha ;-)

It does also have 2x2 binning so it should be able to pick up some very faint stuff.

I'm quite sure it will work. It doesn't have any guide port so pulse guiding is probably the best choice, not a bad thing though but a few people like st4 guiding.

The chip is very small so the selection of guide stars could be a problem.
