Help! SPC880 windoze 7 issues

Help! I can't get my SPC880/900 to work my Windoze 7 laptop!

pretty sure it has been working in the past on that laptop.

Has the camera been reflashed with the SPC900NC firmware ?

Mmm not sure. The label says SPC880NC (on the cable, near the USB end) - it was one bought from Sherwoods a coupla years ago - can't remember! Any way to tell ?

Apart from the fact that at some point I seem to be under the impression this was a 900, judging by my Sig

Does the camera appear in the device manager, or is it not recognised at all?

Ha! Now why didnt I think of that?!

It is registering itself as an SPC900NC, but with a warning on the icon. I've requested it go find new drivers.

Win7 seems to have hidden the device mangler away a bit, as if they don't want people looking at it.  Which would be fine if everything "just worked"

Well, thats worked an absolute charm: at first it complained about a corrupt or missing certificate, and wouldnt update the driver, so I just uninstalled, unplugged the device then put it back,

and repeated the process. left it to get on with it and lo! it worked.

Going in via the device manager was so much easier than faffing around looking for drivers and msi's manually.

You are right there though - they have rather squirreled it away (had to use the Start menu search field), but the chances of anything microsoft 'just working' are practically nil -

are you 32bit or 64 bit win 7, i plan to get my 900 "plumbed in" tomorrow

64 bit Win7 - plug it in and use the device manager to find the right driver. I'm also roadtesting sharpcap, which looks excellent, just need to try it on astronomical targets now.
