camera aperture settings

Recommended Posts

At prime focus the camera will be operating at the f-ratio of the scope it's attached to.

My Canons (1000D and 1100D) both show aperture as f00 when the lens is removed and the T-ring attached , just adjust ISO and Shutter speed to suit your target.

1/250th as a starting point for shutter speed shooting the moon. You don't always get what you're seeing so take test shots and play with the speed of course. Using liveview zoomed in is a real godsend for me. Shoot in Raw always.

Even with a fast shutter speed its also a good idea to use a remote shutter release or a 4 second delay i normally go the other way by setting the ISO at 100-200 then adjust speed to suit but you idealy want a min of 1/50 th of a second so Iso sometimes has to be upped. The key is lots of shots some will have good seeing some wont.
