Finally a Milky Way shot

I finally managed to get out with my kit and grab some shots in the desert last night. This was probably my favourite.

Still struggling a bit with the processing and getting the sky to be black.

This was Nikon D7000 with Sigma 17-50mm F2.8

ISO was 4000

30 sec exposure.

The lights on the car were just alarm on/off

Tried it with the lights off and the car had no character. All I did was lock/unlock the doors with the keyfob. Split second of lights. Matter of opinion I guess but I think it makes the shot,

This is quite a shot as we would say in Photography. I would enjoy seeing any you have without the automobile though.

Looks to be a tripod.  Only a 30 second shot, you'll see slight smear on the stars, which you can see.
