Hi and welcome to SGL.

Regarding your red dot finder, when you get a new battery it is best to set it up in daylight, point your scope at a distant object then adjust your red dot finder or spotting scope so that it is pointing at the same object. it is then ready to use. Hope this helps.

Hi Mark and welcome,

I have got the astromaster as well and as for the RDF i am looking to replace it with either a Telrad or a reigel finder as i don't get on with it at all. Thats when the battery like you isn't flat as accidentaly leaving it on after a session of observing one night and then going to use it the next it's as dead as the proverbial.
