The Sun - 5th July 2013 - White Light (1st ever attempt)

Managed to finally get an opportunity after work tonight around 18:00-19:00 to have a first go at imaging the Sun.

This is only a single frame 1/1600 ISO 400 with my Canon 1000D + homemade Baader ND5.0 filter + 80ED.

(Will need to work on focussing, experimenting with camera settings, and taking multiple shots and stacking in the future!)

That's quite a good single sub considering the seeing wasn't great this evening. As you say, stacking is the way to go.

I think that's an excellent single frame and shows plenty of promise for stacked images. Get cracking

Try and get hold of some Baader ND3.8. Its better for imaging. The ND5.0 is better for visual.

Well done - that's a good first "sub". The seeing has been pretty awful recently but that has been compensated for by the humungous AR 1785 crossing the disc.
