M64 - Luminance 15-05-2013

Luminance subs (5x240s & 5x600s) from last night.

Subs were stacked in AA5 and further processed in PS. Base layer duplicated and central area only enhanced to lift the darker central dust lane. Then blended with the first layer. Left as grey scale.

Another project to get more data on...

As andyo says, you're getting some nice detail at the centre, Francis. More data (as always of course!) would help control the noise.

Investigating? This has only shown on short sub exposures :confused:

Yes, I was going to ask about the star shapes and also thought 'pinched' but it might be collimation. The galaxy is coming along really well. The best noise reduction is more data but I think a selective layered approach (the inverse of your core sharpening) would look good too. The image looks very good.
