Mak Rings at last

Well after clicking buy on a set of 220mm rings I tested them on the Mak 180pro and worked out they needed about 10-12mm of packing. I found a sheet of cork 5.5mm thick from an online hobby supplier and cut it into strips then used double sided sticky tape to bond them to the existing padding. I did clamp them up for a while unstuck just to preform the strips which made them easier to locate when stuck in position. I'm well chuffed with the result and the fit

And before I blackened the edge if the cork

This was the strips I cut from the cork sheet. I preformed them but clamping in the rings in the scope which made it easier to stick in position

That looks very neat. I'd never have thought of taking the ID of rings down that much, but it clearly works.
