Comet 17P/Holmes

Comet 17P/Holmes has brightened by a factor of a million since last Wednesday. It is now visible to the naked eye in the constellation of Perseus.

I took this image Tonight (Sunday 28th Oct) using a 12" f6 reflector. It was a 10 sec exp taken at the focal plane of the telescope. The camera used was my Canon 20d.

Good one Peter - looks just like what I can see through my 10x50 Bino's (between the clouds and rain squalls).

Yeah, but this is next to Mirfach, in Perseus. Plenty time to have a look. That Bootes one is rubbish anyway.

I had a quick look with the 12" Dob tonight and it looked just like that. There's a central "star".
