Cloud dodging to the Max

Hi everyone, had some fun on the 13/1/13,

looked outside around 5pm it was crystal clear, and like you do

you go flat out to get everything set up.

By 6 o'clock the sky conditions had deteriorated and there was the

odd cloud about after seeing some fantastic shots of M78 by Olly and Mike

it gave me some inspiration to have a go myself

I was outside for 9 hours 3.5 hours take off the hour to get set up the other 4.5 hours were spent cloud dodging.

My initial Target M78 soon disappeared after 10 minutes behind a wall of cloud but spared me the north part of the sky so went onto M81 same thing happened after 20 minutes, then some it was almost all cloud apart from a thin sliver fairly low on the horizon when I managed only 25 minutes on NGC 2359 Thors helmet, that disappeared so I then waited for an hour and eventually got back to M78 , I must have gone backwards and forward between M78 and M81 7 times.

The most frustrating thing is for all my effort there is not what I would call a finished picture to be had.

M78 will be work in progress, Ngc 2395 well to be honest I did not think I would get anything, being a low sky target and the conditions were pants a bad combination at the best of times

M81 I found very hard to process due to the amount of sky glow that was about.

would I do another night like that again.......absolutely lol

All were 4 or 5 minute subs.

M81 2 hours 5 minutes

M78 1 hour

Ngc 2359 25 minutes

I have included a 100% crop shot also one of the subs as it come off the camera.

Thanks Paul.

Thanks Guys,

oo if thats 1 hour on m78 i would like to give this ago i love the dark neblua :) these quattro are great arnt they :D

Great scope indeed, I did not think i would image with anything apart from my 80 ed pro

but the slighly longer fl and the faster optics make it worth the while.

Nicely done!

I'm lucky to get that many targets in in a year!

I was lucky, but i had to work for it, i would sooner focus all my attention on one

target, but the way the weather been just latley i can not complain.
