At the minute I've been using star walk and was wondering what other people use if any? Also are there any types of helpful astronomy apps?

SkySafari, the Nasa and Esa apps, Portal to the Universe is an interesting space news app developed by Esa. I also like Exoplanet - it doesn't do much, just lets you know when a new exoplanet has been confirmed. There's literally dozens and dozens to choose from, some free some not.

If you do a search on SGL for "apps" and iPhone or iOS, you'll probably get many threads with quite a few suggestions therein.

Oh great, I've been using accuweather, which has been is quite reliable. Is aimed more towards seeing, clouds etc.?

Being mean, I wasn't keen on paying for Scope Nights, found something called Sly Harbinger which is based on the 7Timer info too, looks simple but potentially useful, and free :-)

I've got scope nights installed and use it everyday! Fantastic app, I've been using it for a while and had some issues early on and found the developer very helpful and responded quickly to any emails I sent.

The latest version has a bar thingy which breaks up the evening and colour codes each 3 hour section for sky quality. Also shows sun set and rise times along with the moon phase.

Having said I was mean, I just paid far more for Observer Pro, which seems very good for planning observing sessions, and also includes the 7Timer weather forecast.

+1 Sky Safari & Scope Nights. I find Jupiter Guide and Moon Globe useful. There's also Messier List, Planets and Planet Wheel which are worth a look.

I have an Android and use Star odyssey, Astro Panel (very good app), Skeye and Google sky maps (I personally prefere Skeye over Google sky maps),

Also a couple of good websites to bookmark on your phone are, Astronomy.com, Nasa.gov. The weather channel is a good one for forecasts as is theweatheroutlook.com

skysafari and sat24 are main 2 tools i use, also tapatalk for this forum!

+1 for SkySafari, I find it very useful, create observing lists, save notes and so on. Also doesn't require a live Internet connection to be functional
