my 8" steel Quattro got delivered this morning around 10am which was a surprise as im normally last drop, heres a few pics not great but thats the cheap point and shoot.so apart from the missing finder which is now on the way to me every thing seems in perfect condition. collimation was way out have used a cheshire to get it as close as i can then a star test will do for the final tweeks until i get the new farpoint kit. the first thing the baffles are a thing of beauty and that over sized secondary HUGE! the foucser is solid as a rock and the fat collitmation screws help loads, but they seem to have substituted the bigger dovetail?? this must be because its 800mm FL but i still would have rather had the longer one , its a bit hefty good job i have the NEQ6. over all very happy looks fantastic hope to get first light tonight

I find the BBC weather site ok - but when they say "clear sky" do they mean vertically or horizontally, lol

wot they ACTUALLY mean is .......you can clearly see it's a sky ! ;-) And who , in the dawn of time decided clear skies mean hypothermia are inseperable ,at least in "good old" England ?

I'll be following this thread with interest Dan, I've had my eye on the quattro for quite a while now for my main obsy scope. You mention its quite hefty, too much for an HEQ5 on a pier do you think?

until I realised it was on a table, I thought it looked huge in the pic!

I have a 12" f4 (OOUK) and looking forward to first light on that too.

collimation with cheshire......spot on who needs lasers! i picked the bubble up on a 1sec exposure on a full moon one things for sure my next purchase a coma corrector jeeez they suffer bad, they should really be supplied with one they would sell alot more.

probably flock on front of the baffles were they start in tube and upgrade the dovetail nothing majour yet

just to show you heres 6 min on the bubble full moon no coma corrector unguided, this was with the mammut CCD reall packs a punch for the price cooled to -2, cant wait for a moonless night

You could double the speed again with an ASA 2" Reducer Corrector 0.73x
