Deep sky stacker problem

Hope someone can help? spent over 2 hours imaging the viel nebula last night, but when i put the images thorugh deep sky stacker the final image only has about of quarter of the image the rest is missing anyone got any ideas? i have attached the image.

The only times I've seen that before is when the version of DSS doesn't support the raw image files from the dSLR in question. What version of DSS are you running ? Based on the camera in your sig (Canon 450d), it would have to be a very old one to not handle the raw's, I used the same camera and haven't seen that issue.

thats the version iv got, ok managed to look at the cr2 files for some unknown reason they have all download from the camera like that? jpegs are ok? stumped now? i thought the jpeg is a representation of the raw image? when you use jpeg and raw togeather.

When you use RAW+JPG, The camera saves the raw's then processes and compresses the file into a JPG, so you get two sets of files.

its a problem when its saves i to raw its not completing the complete picture for some reason?

So are the raws on the memory card like that, or only after the transfer to PC ?

What program are you using to look at the raws? I mean, how do you know the raw is actually broken?

something funny going on, the jpegs are all ok, full picture, if i load the raws into deep sky stacker and look at them individually then only the first quarter of the image is present? (as the sample image i posted) i converted a raw image to a Tiff and it goes full image again? but i ideally want to stack the raw images in deep sky stacker.

That implies a problem with the raw decoder in dss related to the raws from your camera. If that beta version doesn't work the best I can come up with for now, is to convert to tifs and use those for now.

I would check again that you have the version of DSS you that think you have. The bug you are describing in known about and has been fixed in the latest beta version of DSS.

iv got version 3.3.2, is this the latest?

ah ok iv download the file but it wont run?asks what program i want to use to open it? help requiried? do i need to move files around or something?

I click on it and it opens to 3 files, i run the app file and it works....

I run Win 7, 64 bit

ok sorted now, mant thanks for your help, im assuming because the canon 600d is a newer cam the older version of dss didnt like it, What would i do with the advice of the fine people on here?!

Hi Astroblagger sorry to pick up this thread months later but I seem to be having the same issue with a modded Canon 1100D have completed everything the guys in the post told you to do but still with a Beta version of DSS i'm still getting that quarter image. Did you get it sorted in the end if so what did you do
