First light with the Nexstar 8SE on the moon

Mare Crisium, Endymion, Langrenus and Petavius with the C8, DMK31 and Astronomik IR pass filter. Seeing was average. Clouded over before I got a chance with the barlow. Taken on 1 October.

Done the following night but high cirrus cloud has degraded the close up somewhat.

First the Rheita valley and crater Janssen..

Petavius and Furnerius on the terminator:

And two barlowed shots - Atlas and Hercules with crater Endymion on the terminator..

And crater Cleomedes on the northern edge of Mare Crisium..

Very nice, I have a celestron nexstar 8se but havnt managed to get that close detail yet... Have only really used a 32mm and 25mm celestron plossi eyepieces though..

VERY nice, of to a flying start with that big sct, be right proud of those shots, and they will get even better

Thanks for all the kind comments! I know they can be even better, especially the close ups which were hampered by cloud. Loving the new scope.
