Soul Nebula - Atik 460 H-alpha image

Using a new reducer, I finally managed to get the entire Soul Nebula (IC1848) into a single frame of my Atik 460EX, so no more mosaics for this one! This image is 9 x 10 min H-alpha subs, which is not many, but clouds were a problem last night and completely stopped play before I could complete capture of the full narrowband data set. As and when the weather improves I'll go back to get more data & will (hopefully) post a full Hubble colour version shortly. I have to add, the Atik 460EX is a lovely CCD to work with.

It's on my list with my refractor.... weather's not playing ball though...

That's really a fantastic amount of detail to have pulled out, can't wait to see this finished.

I wonder, has the histogram been flattened a bit towards the upper end? Maybe that's just how it's supposed to look with a camera so sensitive!
