What's the best software to use with the EQDIR?

Typical... I can't remember how I did this now.. I have an older version on me desktop that doesn't show them.. but my netbook running v3.6 does. Have you checked out the info at the bottom of the page here..

CdC doesn't show me the pics of how the Messier objects or NGCs are supposed to look like. Therefore I'm not always entirely sure whether I found what I was looking for...

Not sure if this is what you're after but you can download DSS images using CdC: Select a sufficently small region of the sky (there is a limit on the size of the DSS image that can be downloaded), then select the "Get the DSS Image..." from the Chart menu.
