In Tavel Focus - Camera

Hi guys,

I tried using my 10" Newt last night for the first time imaging and struggled to focus on anything - it seems there isn't enough inwards focus - what can I do to solve this?

If its the same as my focuser, it comes with a 1.25" bit and a 2" bit. The 1.25" bit unscrews so that the tube that the EP goes into can be removed. This leaves a T thread which allows you to connect the camera. Using the 1.25" tube bit or the 2" adapter leaves the camera too far out of the focuser.

You are thinking of the Skywatcher KK, I think Grant has a Revelation (GSO).

Grant, I am not familiar with your focuser but assuming that it doesn't have a direct-slr-connection similar to the Skywatchers then you can use a barlow, change the focuser or move the mirror a little up the tube. Lets hope someone comes up with a cheaper and more practical solution.

On my Skywatcher I needed around an extra 2-3mm of in travel. I got round that problem using the collimation screws to move the mirror up the tube.

I then had to screw the focuser right in to acheive focus.
