can't fit the whole moon in when using webcam and 6" SCT

Recommended Posts

Help! While trying to get a webcam image of the moon, the magnification is too great, and i can only get a small portion of the moon in shot. I'm plugging a phillips 900 (?) webcan into the eyepiece hole on a celestron nexstar 6se. any tips? I'm using smartcap software to capture the images.

You'l have to be fast to do a full mosiac with a AZ mount, you will get field rotation and the mosaic panels wont line up correctly. A DSLR will fit the moon on its larger CCD on my old mak 127 that had a 1500mm focal length.
