Best 0.5x 1.25" focal Reducer for CCD Work

Hi all,

Anyone know what the current best 1.25" 0.5x focal reducer is for CDD Imaging. Any views or reviews would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Antares clone of the Atik and it works fine up to webcam size chips. It doesn't work with my Atik 16HR because the edges go all nasty.

yup the atik 1.25 reducer is great for web cams , but like KK says , causes vignetting and coma for the Atik 16hr , not sure its effects on other CCDs though., i always use the Celestron 6.3 reducer.

Ian King Imaging recommended the f.3 Meade version to me when I enquired about a CCD setup for my 8" celestron SCT.

I used the Atic 0.5 focal reducer on my Atic16ic and it seemed to cause terrible mess in the corners. I dont know if it was my inexperience in setting it up right or whether it was really the reducer.

I should have mentioned i have ordered a 8" newt, so it needs to be a 1.25" version.

I've heard that the Astrophysics 0.63x reducer is really good, you just cant seem to get it in this country.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm planning using it with a MX916 / SXVF-M9 when i get my hands on one.
