Help with 130P GoTo

Recommended Posts

Really simple and Possably stupid question (yes I am new to this)

When setting up my 130p goto synscan for the nights viewing, as I power up the synscan handheld computer to start the alignment of the stars, what position should the telescope be in? Im am guessing the scope should be in a horizontal position facing roughly north, it that right? or does it not really matter?

Thanks.

As others have said it does not matter where you start. You do need to make sure that the mount is level however and the built in spirit level may not be that accurate - it's certainly very difficult to see particularly in the dark. Mine is not that bad but if I am using my webcam I now use a proper spirit level on the tray to fine tune it and 9 times out of 10 I need to make adjustments.
