Truly fascinating. I'm guessing that the blue bits and the brown bits tell us something about the sequence of events that led to the big patches of "sea".

I remember reading about the colours on the moon, but I can't remember where I read it.

I know they said NASA are interested in the bluish areas as it contains Titanium and something else I can't remember!

Nice picture there Phil, I might have to try and do a colour shot myself. I was going after Rupes Recta tonight but the weather doesn't look like it wants me too

Yes, its facinating to see these colours.

My method is:

Take a good solid exposure in RAW (just before whites burn out)

Move it into Photoshop and render it with the RAW plugin

with the colour saturation set to max.

Then open into the main edit area and adjust colour saturation up until

you get the right depth of colour.

This way gives an image with 75% less chroma noise than by just tweaking

a JPEG image.

Oh and don't try this using a built up mosaic image, Imerge seems to dump the colour

or at least it does here.
