Asur84
I have just solved my problem of having no time/good weather to get outside with my scope and have invested in a stellarium and am now ploughing through the sky in an attempt to be able to properly navigate my way accross the night sky, incidently I am currently looking for any other programs for thee computer that will help to broaden my horizons (so to speak). cathalferris
Stellarium is very good, makes pretty sky pictures for sure. The "skychart" software (was known as Cartes du Ciel) can do more stuff and can use more star catalogues (I'm using the ppmxl catalogue down to about mag 20), as well as using XPlanet to render the planets. It's less user friendly to beginners than Stellarium, but it can be more powerful for many things. It's also free! It's got links to the "virtual moon atlas" as well. It just doesn't render the sky as prettily.
