Binocular advice needed

I am looking to buy a pair of binoculars for around £50.

Any advice would be very welcome.

You might be able to get a pair of Bushnell 10x50 Binoculars for that price?

Google " strathspey". I read they have excellent bins.

Or get a pair of Zeiss jenopotems off ebay but of course thats a bit of a risk!!

I have looked at the Strathspey site and have seen that they do both 10x50 and 20x50 for the same price.

Which is best for general viewing of targets like the moon or planets?

20 x 50 might be a bit too much power unless you have a tripod with them...I would sya 10 x is best for general viewing of clusters and the like. For the moon 10 or 20 will be fine..but the planets need at least 75x so beyond anything any binocular will handle effectively..

I've got some no name brand 7x50's which my dad got in the old days.

I think they are superb for picking out areas of the sky. Being not so powerful means it's much easier to locate objects in the wide field.

I'd use them with some more powerful ones which I can use once I've located what I want to see with the 7x50's
