i have bought m14 bolts and half nuts, still waiting for washers and i can carry out knobbys base mod,as my original bolt comes undone while moving the mount.

i will have a spare bolt and washers if anyone needs it .

fitted a 300mm lazy susan from Amazon to my 200p Dobsonian mount

Great improvement

No need for pads the centre bolt can be set to your own preference

Whole job completed in 10mins.

Interested to know what the job involved and what it makes better, smoother etc?

my lazy susan bearings i used ep90 gear oil to smooth the track out it woz like i needed one more bb to fill the race !!!

I think mine could have done with 4 or 5 :D I used a bit of super lube which seems to have quietened it down a bit

Could any one make one post with links to all the parts that are needed?

reading the post there seems to be a few places to purchase different bits and bobs.... Would be great for a one post for all items.

Appreciate it

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370223910528 m14 bolt

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110374954248 half nuts.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180794415034 washers.

of course you may find cheaper , but thats my source for items. thinks thats all.

just add milk carton washers as needed.

Top man Rory, my reply was going to be "don't be so flippin lazy"

The milk bottles come from Tesco's or Aldi or Lidl ...

trouble is, your post Rory, will end up in the middle of this thread eventually ...

Maybe a mod could sticky it or perhaps start a new thread with only parts links for Dob mods

Great thread thanks Daz & Knooby.....fancy doing this mod my base is very jerky.....confused (not difficult) removing stock M12 bolt and spacer/collar then using only a fixed M14 bolt, no friction protection for the top hole through the chipboard, will this over time ream out and elongate the top board making the scope move about laterally ? would a M12 x 70 bolt and retain the spacer/collar be better or have I missed something?
