whats the best software for processing images caputed on a webcam for lunar/planetery images?

I'd certainly start with the freeware REGISTAX.

It has the potential of giving some good processing to a captured AVI file.

I still get better images on registax 5 than the newer and potentially much easier to use version 6. There are good tutorials online to get you started.

I tried AviStack first and it is pretty easy to use. The new registax uses all the computer cores, so it is much quicker and pretty much as easy to use, sometimes you need to twiddle the settings a bit, but otherwise either should do a good job. Do post your results here.
