Supernova PTF11kly through the clouds

Managed to bag a single sub of the supernova last night, through a gap in the clouds. I've subtracted 10 bias frames and 5 darks and run it through Noise Ninja but it's still a bit noisy.

The SN is clear as day though...

Vixen R200SS, SXVF-H16, Astronomik Typ2c L filter, 1x480s

Am I right in thinking this is the brightest Supernova since SN1987A?

That appears to be brightening considerably. Next time out I will try and get some comparison shots but the way the weather is going I will need an Ha filter as it will be merely a remnant!

It is getting brighter, at this point its hard to miss. I imaged it last night and I was looking for a faint dot, later realizing it was one of the brightest in the spiral. Amazing how bright they get within a few days. Great pic by the way

That is a great picture. I am going to give the SN a go in the 80mm bins tonight as it should now be visible in them..

Come on then lets see who can see it in the smallest aperture!

Very nice! The SN is really bright. I should try to do an observaton with my 12.5" dobsonian.

Nicely done Dave glad to see it bagged and tagged it's been another dire weekend clouded out every night over the bank holiday.

Pretty much. I sat for an hour capturing darks and bias frames in the hope it would clear up again but no joy.
