Baader side by side plate

Recently bought from Dave G. A picture from last weekend, an EQ6 loaded with a 180mm Mak and 150mm f5 refractor, they made a nice combination.

Looks ace Gaz. Can one be aimed independantly of the other, like for guiding, just with the dual-plate thingy, or do you need guide rings?

You'd need the guide rings CC, its purely a dual saddle.

Going to have to build one then. I need a heavy duty way of double barreling the Skelescope for guiding. Sat on top of it will need too many weights and I think the counterweight bar might snap off. Or maybe there's another way :scratch:

The first thing I noticed is that side by side is a lot easier on the mount than over and under.

That is one beefy looking setup Gaz. Looks very professional too. I have just made myself a side by side dovetail to exactly the same thing.

My pair are a 152mm f8 frac., and ED80 Apo. I have not tried the system out in anger yet, but I was qquite pleased with how easy it was to balance the rig.

That does look good. The width of the dovetail looks wider than the skywatcher ones and narrower than the losmandy ones. What have you got going on there with the mount head / saddle area?
