... I'll be out trying to fiddle with the mound ...

Dan

Sounds like fun, but assume you meant 'mount'! :D

Have you spotted the Bedford Astronomical Society

BAS Web Site - Events

I went a few nights ago, another friendly bunch.

I met Darren, who pointed me to Stellarium

It doesn't take long to download, it's only a small program but, it displays the night sky for any location, and for any data / time with constellations labels and more.

You can even Fast forward through time, like a scene from 'The Time Machine'!

It's quite amazing and will help you pre-empt time/position of planets.

Dave.

Hi Dave,

I wish I could blame the spellcheck but that was just me! Note to self - check for embarrassing mis-spellings before posting :-)

Saw your notes about Bedford AS, just unfortunate to have missed last week's meeting. Looks like they wind down for the summer but the Bedford School astronomy course in November looks interesting...

Hi Dan

The next meeting at Bedford AS is on the 29th June. In the resource room next door to the Observatory. The gate is off Pemberley Avenue. Meeting starts at 8:00pm.

Talk is "Observing Summer Double Stars".

Hi Dave,

Is there an observing session in June as well as the talk? I guess it would require a late night at this time of year!

Hi Dan,

The observing evenings at Bedford AS have finished for this season.

They re-start in September when the darker skies are back.

Hi Dave/Eagleseye,

Thought as much, I'll try to make it along on the 29th then, and say hello!

Dan

I was going to say, you can sit by me so we can share our ignorance, but it looks like you've been pretty active in the short time you have had your telescope.

At the meeting, I'd be interested to hear of your tips from the learning curve.

Dave.
