  1. Yes that’s correct, I forgot to mention that it would require the WiFi dongle.
  2. Thanks Andrew. I will order myself one now to replace the motor drive kit on my spare EQ5.
  3. He doesn't have the budget for a tracking scope. Did you read the thread?
  4. Ok I understand now. A 12" Newtonian sure is a large scope. I bought straps with carry handles to move mine around easier.
  5. Now I'm confused. You said you thought that the 300PDS would be lighter than the 250PX. I asked why when the 300PDS is 300mm longer and 50mm wider
  6. Why would the 300PDS be lighter? It’s 300mm longer and 50mm wider 🤔.
  7. That’s heavy. My 300mm dobsonian tube is 19kg but that’s without any rings or Losmandy dovetail of course.
  8. Awesome capture and processing 👍.
  9. Exactly 👍. That's the best way for her to learn. Good luck.
  10. The time of transit through the eyepiece will depend on the magnification as well as the FOV (field of view) of the eyepiece used. In a general sense the 130P will definitely allow you to position Saturn at the edge of the eyepiece and then allow your daughter to watch it drift through the eyepiece. A slight nudge by yourself will reacquire the target and repeat the procedure.
  11. The Virtuoso will provide full go to on his phone/tablet with the Synscan pro app.
  12. No they are not twist up eyecups and will give me 185x with my Starfield and MBII’s with 2.6x GPC. They are 60 degrees flat field FOV which should be more than enough. When these clouds eventually subside I’ll be able to try out the various pairs of eyepieces I’ve bought.
  13. I disagree. You will see the globular and open clusters, brighter planetary nebulae not to mention the multitude of double stars. While there's no substitute for darker skies there's a lot more to see other than solar system objects.
  14. A couple of 10mm UFF eyepieces for the MBII’s.
  15. I’m about 80 miles from you in Oxford. If you want to you’re welcome to come and see the 12” dobsonian and try it for weight etc yourself. It’s a large scope for sure.
  16. I’m pleased you’re happy with the wedge and putting it to good use. Nice first image.
  17. If you are going to buy Celestron binoculars then get the pro version. They are far superior to the standard models. I’ve recently bought a pair of Helios Apollo 15x70 but due to the incessant cloud cover I haven’t managed to use them yet.
  18. Thanks Andrew. I'd really appreciate it if you could post how things work out for you.
  19. I’m happy to stick with my Starfield 102 doublet which has FPL53 and Lanthanum lenses. It also has a 2.5” fully rotatable R&P focuser. The objective is also a weather compensated cell so no pinched optics. Visually I can’t see any CA even at high magnification. Great price as well.
  20. I found the contrast booster beneficial for the planets. It definitely brings out more contrast. I actually prefer unfiltered views so sold it on. I don’t like the slight yellowish tint it portrays. Some people don’t seem to really notice it but unfortunately I’m not one of those.
  21. Just ordered myself one of these. Much better than the plastic dust sheet I’m using at present.
