  1. Spot on colours mate great stuff πŸ‘ŒπŸ‘‹
  2. Lovely Neil !!! Fantastic seeing here again too it’s a perfect reflection of what I saw at the eyepiece! Great mate it can only get better as Jupiter slowly draws to opposition
  3. Great effort!!! Yes the seeing was prototype good here to in 🏴󠁧󠁒󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
  4. Nice Neil πŸ‘Œyes I did notice this visually very prominent πŸ€” seeing wasn’t great ( meteoblue said sub arc second πŸ˜‚) I’d say 6/10 at best how was it for you ??
  5. I have been getting the last couple of weeks at 2,30 am to observe The planets and up until now the seeing has been around 6/10 at best but all that changed on the morning of the 11th ! Got up at 2,30. The observatory was opened 5 hours earlier to cool the scope . straight onto Saturn as I focused I could see no atmospheric turbulence as I began to rack through to focus and then it just snapped into focus the globe was showing distinct banding darker at the poles The Cassini division looked perfect A and B and C rings I knew then it was going to be special after gazing at Saturn for around half an hour I moved straight onto Jupiter and thinking please be the same and yes it was stock still looking like a screen shot of a high end ccd image!! NPR had mottled look the NEB had lots of structure and the EZ looked stunning reminiscent of a thick carpet swirls in all directions the SEB looks split into distinct bands full of structures SSTzr showing 2 small white ovals this truly was an exceptional morning I observed until 4.20 AM and I knew if I had doubts on my new scope they are gone , it’s times like this that make it all worth the effort to get up every time it’s clear set up was as follows I tried various eyepiece combinations zeiss , Pentax but the taks orthos gave a β€œHD” effect, I could of increased magnification I did try over 500x but it showed the same amount of details but a bit softer I do prefer the HD effect 9” Lzos APM zeiss apo binoviewer 6mm takahashi orthos 342x
  6. Lovely mate πŸ‘ had some fantastic seeing here on the 11 th to in wales hopefully a good season for us all !!🀞
  7. Welcome! What part of wales I’m hengoed!
  8. No handles as i ain’t taking it off again !!!!πŸ˜‚
  9. In this day and age of f5,6,7 etc imaging apos the f9 is a oddity that’s for sure , it is a great imaging platform with reducers etc.. but it is primarily a visual instrument for the solar system my main interest πŸ‘
  10. 2052 mm focal length not quite a kilometre πŸ˜³πŸ˜‚
  11. Cheers this scope came from a friend in Germany who has bought a 10” lzos ! So the 9” was surplus to requirements!! It is new like condition no marks on tube lens cell was flawless. I have now collimated the scope ( tak collimation scope) and tested it with a strehl of 97.8 it’s bang on very happy lunar views tonight were better than both my 10” mak newt and 12” zen colours and contrast were staggering in the binoviewer using tak orthos , also stars were beautiful and tight yes it’s blooming massive , and even in my big observatory it’s a squeeze but doable roll on Mars and Jupiter this year thanks all stuy
  12. All good tested spot on πŸ‘
  13. As soon as the weather clears !! I will of course do a few tests I had a quick look at the moon using the new zeis apo binoviewer from Denis and was impressed by the contrast and blackness against the moon terminator
  14. It’s at least a 2 man job ! With the balance system in place it’s 47 kg !!
  15. It may be cloudy for a while 😳
  16. Good effort mate πŸ‘πŸ‘
  17. Lovely stuff mate considering the elevation πŸ‘no just visual now maybe some sketching I’ve invested heavily over the years upsizing scopes to get what I think is best scope for visual works here in the UK the 9” f9 lzos was a big investment but that’s me done now on scopes it will be permanently mounted in observatory, and for scopes to take out to dark sites I’ve the 12” zen or 10” mak newt both heavy but doable ! I lost the love for astronomy after years of imaging I forgot what it actually looked like through a eyepiece!!! But now enjoy the visual so much I’m only limited by seeing as we all are here in the Uk roll on Jupiter and Mars !!!!!
  18. Yes this year will be good πŸ‘ you still doing lots of imaging Neil? You’ve put out some great stuff last good Jupiter apparition a few years ago ,
  19. Yes I’m internet to see how the big 9” lzos will do being a air spaced triplet on temperature issues πŸ€” they do take longer than oil spaced to reach thermal equilibrium , I will also test it on Mars and Jupiter come late summer against the 10” maknewt, will be interesting to see stu
