Hi Khalid, welcome to SGL. Ask the questions, no matter how daft you think it may be, you won’t find out if you don’t!

Hi Derek,
Glad you could take that joke in the manner it was intended 👍
Appreciate the update, not easy when things change so rapidly.
Thanks again.

To cut a long story short......
You disappointed me Derren - it was neither 😉

Very well done, great image👍

If you thought the scope might be large, just wait til you see the size of the boxes that the scope comes in 😮
Congrats on the new purchase. Now the spendings starts on upgrades such as focuser and EPs😇
Enjoy the new scope👍

Hi Baz,
I could see you say what mount you’re 200P is on. Is it an EQ or Dob mount?
Sorry, phone so can’t see signatures.
If an EQ, you could make yourself a Dob mount and utilise the rings that you already have, just a thought.

Hi Baz,
you will have 3 times the light gathering capability and will gain on image scale but you may be shocked as to quite how big the scope is. Definitely get up and close to one.
Dark skies are by far the biggest improvement you can make

Lovely captures, well done.

Congrats on a very good capture, well done. What equipment did you use?

On the eye end of the polar scope should be a collar that rotates to allow for focusing. When done once, that’s it, no need to touch again

So Kenny is pitching a tent to be safe due to Corona then. Bit of a change to the norm, but safer. We will all have to be on the alert. 🧐
Be alert, your country needs lerts

Derek,
Thank you for all your work and considerations on this matter. It is fair to say that people who try to predict the future usually get it wrong. Just need to watch and see what happens.
I hope you and Annette are safe and well in these strange times.
Thanks again

I can’t believe I am saying this but, I am not going to be attending Feb GSP.
A few of the reasons being I have a lot of other things on ATM, was really squeezing this event into the diary and would miss being in a tent in Galloway.
I hope the weather turns good for those attending. I will be thinking of you all.

Hi John,
Yes, correct thread. GSP Feb 2020 is cancelled due to the field being too wet to take heavy traffic.
Oops!

just checking... is this cancellation announcement in the correct thread? I knew that the SGL meet was cancelled due to flooding but haven’t heard anything from Derek.
Clutching at straws!

Hi Guys,
Just spoken with Ralf ( 1949hrs 14th Feb 2020), Leslie is away dealing with other business, it is confirmed the SP is cancelled!
They have have had a lot of rain recently and still have storm Dennis to hit, so more rain to come.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I am sure Derren 😜 will be along shortly to confirm the same.
-
Excellent news Darren. Be good to see you after all this time. You should recognise some of the other monikers on here from PSP 2012 - they know who they are😉

Derek,
Don't think you can bribe people to attend by offering them paint stripper - AKA Macallan

I fitted a Kendrick secondary dew heater, added a fan to the primary, dew bands for the EP and both ends of my RACI 🙄. All run off a small leisure battery
-
Sorry for the delay in replying. I was holding off until plans this end had been confirmed. It now looks like I will be able to attend. Looking forward to it.
As Damian says, I would not be adverse to setting up my tent without taking the car onto the field.

Must be the "new" organiser that's putting people off🤣
I will join you all, if it keeps you happy 😊

You could create a dew shield using a foam camping mat or fit a dew heater - such as the Kendrick ones. I went for the latter option, works a treat
