  1. Tadpole nebula live stack. M33 live stack
  2. Jfi, just found out that S50 publishes guest smb drive just like asiair. So u can get all fits, etc remotely - no need for usb. Heres screenshot showing me accessing from my phone.
  3. 30 mins of eagle nebula. All I get from my latitude. That's live stack from app.
  4. yeh, will take some thought - I've been designing 3d print stuff for 11 years now. As long as you know what you're doing they can do most structural job tbh. You just have to working within their stregnths. All my cameras lenses have 3d printed mounts/eaf mounts, all my guide scopes have 3d printed mounts. I mount my gopros and 360 cameras with 3d mounts on my paramotors, etc. I've build 3d printed parts for my cars, motorbikes, etc. For the S50 - the key I think would be a sort of triangle enforced shaft of 2020 ali extrusion (black) with a locking piece (Red) , that you attached to the side of the house below the window with hinges, and rotated out and locks in place with S50 fitted. and when not, rotates back in to side of house out the way. Here's a rubbish fag packet sketch:
  5. yup that's a plan indeed. Miraculously the forecast is for some clear skies tonight, so I'll stick it out there and try a few targets. was gonna go for eagle nebula and M51. With the eagle you've no choice for long integrations anyway as it's so low. I'm trying to work out a way of sitting it on my house roof - it would get far better visibility to eagle at that height.. a sort of mount I could screw it onto attached to one of my upstairs windows when open or something...doubt I'll have that for tonight though. still I'll have a think if I can knock something up with the laser cutter and 3d printer... With the 2 mounts in the observatory, and setting up an old EQ5 and canon 6d in the garden too - I'll be imaging with 4 rigs tonight to make best use of these limited clear skies.
  6. Draw a circle in th middle of an uncropped frame to the edge. Draw a square inside the circle to it's edges. That is your worst case crop. Buy really, as I've said before the s50 is not designed for long integration times. Be content with 30 mins, and it's fine.
  7. Think of how clear the sky will be after all that washing though. 😉
  8. Yeh the s50 is just too big to do eq stable.long integrations without rotation are a usp of the d2 over the s50. As I've said earlier they are both powerful tools with their own unique specialities. It's easy to get frustrated if your trying to use it outside its envelope (e.g. Small dsos with the d2, long integrations with the s50). Stick in the sweet spot and both and very capable and entertaining I think.
  9. What about bigger targets with d2 ? m31, elephants trunk, rosette etc ? Those I'd have thought would be more suitable to the d2 ?
  10. there's the last one - just loaded in Siril, background calibrated, histogram stretched and saved as a jpg - nowt else. so it's roughly how it would have look on the tablet/phone at the time - sorry didn't actually bother saving the ones to the phone as knew I was going to stack
  11. you'll need something that can open fits files. on mac - quickfits. on windows - Siril ? then set it to auto stretch. hold on, give me a mo and Ill do it and post the jpgs stu
  12. here's the main one: That's 30 mins. Be aware that was processed off camera though (i.e. I stacked it, and used Siril, affinity photo, etc). I didn't post the live stack image I'm afraid. But anyway, that give you an idea what you can get in 30 mins - which is quite impressive imho. Here's the live stacks - I stopped and started a few times and didn't continue the stack I don't think at least on some occasions - I'm afraid the naming doesn't allow you to see the start stack time so impossible to tell for sure, so these fits are the live stacks of just a fraction of that time. That's one of the benefits of stacking off camera, you can save em up over multiple sessions on the night or different nights. anyway, here's 4 live stack fits as they came off the S50 Stacked_NGC 6888_10.0s_20231006-195128.fitStacked_NGC 6888_10.0s_20231006-204513.fitStacked_NGC 6888_10.0s_20231006-205248.fitStacked_NGC 6888_10.0s_20231006-210721.fit
  13. 10 more sets of 2" filter holder and bahtinov mask arrived. This time in resin print (nice finish). As there are 10 sets - I figured it'd be less hassle to sell them on ebay as that will automate payments and postage. So here's the link if you want a set: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126143288335 9.99 inc postage and packaging. UK only. atb
  14. I was wondering if anyone has done something like this with all their best images on their website: http://aladin.cds.unistra.fr/AladinLite/doc/tutorials/interactive-finding-chart/ i.e. using the "Visualize an EPO image in context" to add in your properly tags jpgs for lots and lots of pics so you (or visitors) could browse around the interactive star map of aladin, see where your images were and zoom into them ? Would take a bit of work, but once you'd 'pinned' all your images into Aladin it would probably be quite a useful guide to see what areas you've done, not done, etc as well as being an interesting tool for website visitors ? stu
  15. i got a SW one - I hardly ever use my AZGTIs so couldn't really stomach the cost of the WO one tbh. But the SW feels tons better than rubbish ioptron at least. laser - you can see a red 5mw laser line through your sony viewer ? Or have I got wrong end of stick ? I could see it working with a high powered green job
  16. I thought this might take a tight crop. And with it, a little bit of saturation/contrast adjustment. The first is just that. The second, is a Topaz Photo AI 2x upscaling version (sacrilege maybe, but works here ?) upscaled with AI ( @vlaiv look away now)
  17. Very nice. I'd love to Get something as good as that some day. I flew over the area earlier in the year in my paramotor - atomic bomb buildings, etc. Cool. My ioptron wedge is rubbish too. I reckon they all are - trying to Pa it is a recipe for frustration.
  18. Dunno about script, but if you download the sirilic gui you can specify the seperation easily.
  19. That's quite a small image, and I can only see one star. Results should be better than that.
  20. Just noticed that was with L-pro. Huh, that surprises me. I'd never have thought to use something like the L-pro on dark nebulas. But I'm looking at the proof it's a good idea !

    Hello

I'll keep an eye out for your posts, but do consider stuff like the new seestar s50 and dwarf ii. They are reasonably cheap and great resale value. IMHO it would be a good way for you to play, learn and also help decide if that's enough for you, or u prefer going 'analogue' visual, or prefer going imaging ? Have a hunt on YouTube and you'll find videos of both. The benefit if u decide to move on is prob for the next year or so because of limited supply, you'll prob sell it for much the same as u bought it for. Kind of a no risk trial. 😁 At least that's the way my brain works. Stu
