Cleaning an SCT Corrector Plate?
Peter_D replied to Swoop1's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
Did you have a dew shield fitted? I'm saying this because I have experience of a similar occurrence and I find a dew shield now stops small hands reaching the CP. -
Hi, Tycho was prominent yesterday . I was using my Orion OMC 140 Maksutov and an unbarlowed Zwo asi224mc mounted on a Celestron SE mount - it's a nice, portable set up. Clear skies Peter

I really haven't been following the design of the Starship and was quite surprised at the number of engines the first stage has - reminds me a bit of the Soviet N1. It was pretty impressive to successfully launch and fly for several minutes in my book! 🙂

EQ5 v head - beware the three legged monster in the dark!

Sorry to hear what happened. Don't take any chances, if you're still getting headaches, you should go and get medically examined again. -
Today's launch has just been scrubbed 🙁

Thanks, I'll definitely try again so.

Hi, I recently upgraded to a Meade 10 inch SCT and an EQ6-R mount so I have no funds available for a camera /UV filter to try and replicate some of the great captures on here! Nevertheless, it was nice to use the bigger scope and very nice to use the EQ6, I find the stability such a difference from my old set up. No detail on the image, Venus in all its enigmatic beauty. Looking forward to Jupiter and Saturn later on the year. Meade 10 inch SCT, Zwo asi224mc, 2x Barlow, Svbony 685nm Pass Filter Clear skies Peter

And if it's any consolation @Franklin, I also recently sold a Vixen (80mm) achro - it took ages to sell even priced very generously. It just seems the market is getting smaller and smaller for these types of scopes.

Interesting thread. I still don't understand why they are called 'Testers' though if they offer no formal evaluation or no returns (or do they?). Why not call a spade a spade and call them 'private resalers'? I'm in the process of upgrading to a larger sct and I contacted an established company here in Germany looking for a specific used scope - yes, I'm paying a premium over an eBay or astro site but in this case I have the peace of mind that it's been serviced by a professional , will be sent securely and I have the right to return it.

Hi, Here's a single shot of Jupiter (top left) and Venus. A bit of a struggle with focus because my only working DSLR doesn't have a live view. Celestron 6SE, Canon EOS 30D. 1/125, ISO 400. Clear skies Peter

Here's a interesting link to a thread on them from a couple of years ago (I should have just done a search before starting a new thread)

Hi, I was observing Mare Serenitatis yesterday evening and I noticed an interesting line of 5 bright spots in nearly a perfect line in the darkness of the terminator. Looking at lunar charts, they are Linné G, H, F, B and A. I had never noticed this before. There's always something new to see along the lunar terminator! Attached is am image of what I observed, it was more striking visually than what appears in the image. Clear skies Peter

Zwo asi224mc - glass particles on sensor
Peter_D replied to Peter_D's topic in Discussions - Cameras
Thanks, the vacuum worked very well! Really appreciate the advice. Just to be clear, the correct order from above is: sensor window => rubber o ring => sensor ? -

Thanks, I try the brush method if the vacuuming is unsuccessful
