  1. Seeing was super steady. First up is a two piece mosaic with 140 APM, 1.5X Barlow and 183MM camera. Data was SO good..... I redid it at 150%. Here is my favourite cropped view... and following that, the upscaled full mosaic. Mosaic is now 8235 X 8235 pixels. 68MP. (F16) Stands up well I think. Had some fun with my new camera finally. Here are two shots that came out very differently. Colour is very different to deal with! First... 2 piece mosaic at Prime with 140/7 Next is a 6 pc mosaic shot with a 1.5X barlow. Version 2 Last is the only 8 inch shot I did. Just did the one clip... scope not acclimated quite yet. Still OK... colour was what I was most interested in. I look forward to more colour hi rez! Curious on thoughts. I find astro colour cams pretty tricky for the moon! (compared to a DLSR) Clear skies Mike
  2. Got some sky time last night. Moon VERY high.... but seeing not optimal. Good for this scale though! Capture time from log: Start(UT)=043743.247 Mid(UT)=043844.259 End(UT)=043945.271 Duration=122.024s Date_format=ddMMyy Time_format=HHmmss And my first version.... the same file, minus a few tweaks to brighten it.
  3. Awesome!! We shot the same exact phase. Sharing now! I like the first a little better.
  4. Very nice work Fedele! A little dark perhaps for me, but very nice processing otherwise and nice clean detail. Mike
  5. Great start to a new game Kon! I look forward to seeing more as you progress. Mike
  6. An absolutely lovely image. Great details and fantastic colour! For this one, the second orientation takes the cake.
  7. Thanks Sunshine!! If Zachary became an astronomer.... well, I would be happy I admit.
  8. Zachary and I had a nice little viewing and imaging session Sunday evening. Got some the next night too! Clear skies!! Mike
  9. OK... only have a little time, but I can help with some basics for you I think. Your scope is fast... so you want small pixels. You want to print presumably full moon shots, so a larger sensor. I would recommend a ZWO 183MC (assuming you want a colour camera). Here is a screen shot from the website recommended above where I put your scope in and the 183M And the field of view you will see. Without a barlow you will capture the whole moon. This is underampling - "wasting" aperture in a sense, but totally fine! We all do it. Will make a very nice image for printing at larger than 8X10 easy given good data. (good seeing and capture data and processing) The smaller field of view shown is what you would capture with a 2X barlow still well inside your "window" of possibility. You could push a bit more on a good night and get still more details. If, down the road, you wanted to ramp things up a bit you can try shooting at the higher power and make a mosaic that will print bigger. Much to learn.... but there ya go. My 2 cents. Edit...... Coma will probably be a factor in trying to make a mosaic. For full discs NO barlow best. But, as well as full discs, you could power things up and reduce your field of view - go for detail shots. Reducing field of view will speed your camera up - more images in capture = equals more good seeing frozen and available to stack into better images. :))) Clear as mud? lol Gotta go! 6yo needs bed. Clear skies Mike
  10. Lovely. Of course the third and fourth grab me the most. Stupendous work. Loving the processing. M
  11. Thanks Michael!! Sometimes those shadows are tough.... they were pretty good here. :))) Appreciate the note on processing..... what I have been really working on!! Very best Mike
  12. Thanks so much Neil. It was our brainstorming that lead to this. :)))
  13. Nice rig! Yeah... fun to try different stuff. Even when its bad. I am shooting through fog and crap seeing myself at moment. Might clear up!
  14. Best to get a good exposure up front . .... but, your settings were ISO200 and 1/400s. ISO50 and 1/100s is the same signal strength and would look the same exposure wise. Just better IQ.
  15. Glad I kept the source data. After inspiration from brainstorming with Neil, I completely redid this mosaic from source files. Quite happy with the details in the terminator. Thanks Neil! Be sure to enlarge to the full 30MP image uploaded.
  16. The second image of your top post looks great to me. Nice result!! The first shows great detail. Some obvious sharpening artifacts there too.
  17. Looks good Kon. I think you could benefit from stacking a few more frames and dialing your shutter speed down and ISO. Stacking only 15 frames will still result in some noise at 200 ISO for some cameras. Go for the cleanest image... ISO 50 if possible. 1/100 sec plenty good. I have shot with comparable gear at 1/50 with good results. Clear skies!
  18. Its great fun for sure! A nice image. Your shutter speed is unnecessarily fast..... that is unless you had gain dialed all the way down already. 5ms is plenty good. Even 10ms if fairly steady. Clear skies! Mike
  19. Very nice images Fedele! My own favourite is the third. Some nice details there.
  20. Truly epic work Neil. I hope one day to perhaps match this even with a single close up! All along the terminator is magic..... I will be returning to this a few times this week to study it more... and also keep a copy on PC to reference by if you don't mind. So glad you were rewarded for doing the brute work of getting the big Newt out!! Clear skies my friend Mike
  21. It really does look like something you might see on the Millennium Falcon. 😆
  22. Really outstanding result Neil! Love it. Actually.... must say, the overall look is pretty much exactly what I go for if I can manage it! Stella is playing very nicely! I like both versions. The larger stands up very well. :))))) Mike
