  1. Yes, set your location, which I have saved as a site in WinJupos that I can pick from the drop down list. I produce WinJupos naming convention ready SERs and TIFFs (you can set this at capture in FireCapture, or in PIPP), so the date and time is embedded and automatically read by WinJupos. I use the TIFF for image measurement, then load that image measurement file into the appropriate field in the derotation of video frames tab, with the matching SER to be de-rotated.
  2. I'm sure that Neil will chime in, but yes, you need to produce an image through AS3! (or similar) which is then used for image measurement against which WinJupos will de-rotate the SER.
  3. That's turned out really well Neil, I look forward to seeing the others. I saw the sky was clear last night, but I'd already packed a lot of my gear for an astro week in the Cotswolds that I'm heading to tomorrow, so I didn't open up. I'm a bit miffed about being away next week, as it will also mean missing the double Moon transit on Tuesday evening.

Mine is permanently installed in an observatory, which I located where it gives me the best views for planetary imaging, other than that my house is in the east, so I have to wait for them to rise over the roof and gain enough altitude for thermals to have less impact. No way could I carry the C14 to set up every night; I struggled with my old 10" Meade before I upgraded to the C14 6 years ago when I also installed the observatory.
  5. Lovely detail coming through with the IR742, so I think I need to give that a try too.
  6. Both are lovely images and I agree that the 22:59 has better detail.
  7. This is certainly my experience, but then of course, when the seeing is good, you can resolve so much more with the larger aperture.
  8. I've twice tried to do a full Moon mosaic, once with the 10" Meade LX200 and 4 years ago with the C14 and a mono ASI120MM-s camera. That last attempt required 121 different videos (frames) and I still missed bits of the Moon (see it here if interested). I think the ASI462 is a slightly larger chip (wider, but not as tall) so I think a full Moon with it through the C14 would still be 100+ frames. Yes, I could do a smaller mosaic with the C14 and maybe I will someday, but for a full mineral Moon I'd probably use my 4" TSAPO100Q with a x2 or x3 barlow, which would get me in the 10 to 20 frames territory with the ASI462MC.

  11. An interesting comparison Rob and whilst I mostly agree about the detrimental effect the jetstream can have on seeing and hence planetary imaging, in my experience it's not always the case. See my thread and image from 14 October 2022.

  14. Thanks Neil, yes same focal length as for Jupiter and Mars, so native C14 other than that the ADC and FW push the C14's native F11 to maybe F12.5. Certainly the ASI290MM + IR742 would do better. I wanted to see what I'd get with the colour camera, as I'm interested to try a mineral Moon with it, but clearly that's not going to happen with the tiny regions being captured through the C14...!! I tended to use the red or green filter instead of the longer IR 742 with my old ASI120MM-s; I've never got around to turning the ASI290MM towards the Moon in the 2 years since I bought it for Mars last apparition.
  15. Thanks Neil, yes all very blurry and I had two minds whether to put them up, but I thought why not....🤔. The only IR filter I have is the Astronomic IR 742 ProPlanet, which is in a different filter wheel that I use with the ASI290MM, so this is just the ASI462MC+ZWO UV/IR cut. Sorry, I don't understand your sampling question, so please explain. I was using much faster 1.5ms (Mars was 5ms, Jup 8ms) with a much larger ROI, giving me 136fps, if that's what you mean.
  16. The last time I turned my scope with a camera at the Moon was over 3 years ago on 11 July 2019, being the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landings. Hence, with a new camera and after a long session trying to image Jupiter and Mars in poor seeing, I'm not sure why I decide it would be a good time to try some old favourite lunar features again, but I did.....🙄. With poor seeing, a new camera and the Moon at only ~37° elevation a lot was against me, but here's what i got. Copernicus Clavius Plato None are close to the resolution that should be possible with the C14, but who knows when I'll try imaging our nearest neighbour again......🤷‍♂️
  17. Thanks Reggie, I hope so at least I now have some base settings for the camera in FireCapture to get me started each session.
  18. Nice Mars image. Syrtis Major is the dark triangular region on the right, which extends towards Sinus Sabaeus and possibly Sinus Meridiani on the left. The bright orange circular region in the south is the huge impact crater Hellas Planitia.
  19. Thanks all. Yes, the seeing was poor, so it was good to get something to keep, out of a long challenging session.
