  1. I have had the same issue, you should set it so it fails over to local astrometry
  2. I used an 8" F4 Newt and a ZWO ASI1600 with ZWO LRGB filters. I used to have the OSC QHY8 and would have got loads of nebulosity at 5 mins, I think either something went wrong during processing or you had some high cloud? Here's an M45 with the same newt and same sub length but with the QHY8 OSC
  3. Hmmm.... Not totally happy with this, still trying to get a handle on LRGB processing, narrowband is much easier as you don't need to balance the colours! I think I maybe needed longer exposures, since this was only 1min subs, either that or Im just crap as LRGB processing...
  4. Just realised it was sent to the office so wont get it till Monday, still hoping its the new version....
  5. What is a dark flat and how do you take one?
  6. Excellent service from Altair, replacement shipped today for Saturday delivery!
  7. TBH - Im not convinced it is, it looks like something I would cobble together! Its so overpriced for what it is, that was OK when it was all that was on the market but then others like Pegasus and ZWO have really changed the market.
  8. I just checked and it was signed for at 10:11am this morning by Altair. Im sure they have just not got round to logging it on the system yet but will give them a call tomorrow lunchtime if I've not heard from them. I did call Altair yesterday before sending it back and told them, they just said to pop it in the post along with a cover letter, I did ask if I should get a returns number or anything but they said nope, just stick it in the post along with a copy of the receipt.....
  9. Well Altair should have received it back today, have not heard from them yet but hopefully it will be back with me shortly
  10. will see what they say, would like a refund as the ZWO unit seems much better build quality and it does not inspire confidence if it wont even last a year. Although I bought it in November, I never fitted it till Christmas and then as Im in Scotland its not been used from mid May till end of July
  11. I would rather swap it for a ZWO one but Altair don't sell them and I cant see them giving me a refund when its nearly out of warranty (unfortunately!)
  12. I have a ZWO one that's on my Newt which Im now using but Im not convinced by the temp readings - says its -10 outside at the moment which I very much doubt! Really need to send the sensor back but not got round it yet
  13. That's not good, did you buy direct or from a reseller?
  14. Looks like my Pegasus Focus Cube is gubbed - no power LED lit and PC wont see it when plugging/unplugging it 😞 Luckily it is just inside its warranty so have emailed Altair to see how I can go about getting it repaired. Anybody else had issues with theirs?
  15. Total disaster! I tried it, the spray foam, sticks to anything but the material the SkyshedPod is made of - it ended up falling out and expanding over the floor of the pod bays. I suppose if you were very careful and patient, you could build it up in layers, but then I find the foam spray dries up/blocks after a couple of days. In short, don't bother!
  16. Something has changed in the latest version of Pixinsight ith regards to star registration/stacking - I think it might be the 'Compute PSF Fits', try disabling that. The only other thing I can suggest is to ask on the Pixinsight forum or save some of the subs to one of those file lockers places and let us have a look and see if we can get it to work.
  17. Below are 2 images, one is a master bias and the other is a superbias created from the master - 250 bias frames captured at offset 60 gain 75 - The superbias does not look right to me but why?
  18. Don't think so, that was a few years ago and back then I think it was a couple of hundred £
  19. I had an Aeroquest one but could never get it to work, I then read a few weeks ago that certain mounts never worked with it as they were machined so fine and the EQ6 or rather some EQ6 were not up to the task
