  1. Imaged with an APM 107/700mm, Daystar Quark Chromosphere and Altair Hypercam 174m 08/04/22. 11:10am till 11:20am Mosaic from 28 x 1000 frames. Stacked in AS!3, sharpened in Registax then aligned in Photoshop: I first tried MS ICE for the alignment, but although it did produce a disk, it miss-aligned some a couple of edge pieces. Photoshop did basically the same, but they could then be teased into position. Composite then of 2 layers. 1 inverted and processed for the surface details. False coloured. 2nd layer processed for the prominences' and also false coloured.
  2. Thank you! The Ha added very little, but it made such a difference:
  3. I have folder upon folder full of moon data and shot, but still enjoy capturing her, especially when she's not ruining the sky quality by being full 🙂 1st quarter moon from the 9th, imaged with my asi1600mm as I was moving on to deep sky straight after. Slightly mineralised
  4. The north west of England hasn't the best reputation for clear skies and cloudless nights, so I feel quite lucky to have been able to leave the roof of the observatory open for a number of full nights while I dared go to sleep! The Leo Triplet. APM 107 / 700mm + asi1600mm + Baader LRGB & Ha 30 x 120 sec RG&B 30 x 240 sec Ha 60 x 120 sec Lum Sadly, asteroid 202 Chryseis had to be cloned out, but lives on here: What was wandering through the Leo triplet? (thank you to @Astroscot2 for the find!) Full FOV: Crop: NGC 3628: M65: M66:
  5. Fantastic! Thank you for tracking it down for me - my first minor planet!
  6. Here's how it manifested in the RG and B (R and B from the 8th, G on the 9th)
  7. On the 8th of April I captured a few hours on the Leo Triplet, which when stacked had an anomaly that the rejection didn't completely remove. Assuming I had done something wrong, I looked at the subs, but couldn't spot anything awry until I Blinked the registered files and got this moving object. I'm not sure how to go about identifying it, but the evening after it was still in frame, just level with the core of the Hamburger, along the same line 25 x 2min exposures, between 2022-04-08 22-08-02 and 2022-04-08_23-03-17 Any guidance would be greatly appreciated (No, I don't think it's aliens!) 8. Just 700mm and with the wrong camera (asi1600mm rather than the 178), but still clearly visible - Thanks for the heads up!
  9. Thank you! It played a little better than my previous attempt 🙂
  10. I'm clearly a glutton for punishment - another 28 panel solar mosaic. Daystar Quark - APM 107/700mm - Hypercam 174m At least Photoshop pulled a blinder, after ICE came very close to aligning it, but messed up a couple of edges. False coloured, and composited with a 2nd stretched image to bring up some prominences Inverted Not Inverted
  11. Quick grab between speeding clouds and a surprise rain shower! LRGB combine with a gentle saturation lift for the colours
  12. Colour success! Glad we could get to the bottom of it 🙂
  13. Indeed it does, so that is another way👍 I tend to use Curves to do it if I'm using PixInsight, but levels in PS or AP?! I don't have a reason for doing it that way, so I'll have to try out your method, Olly!
  14. I wonder if it's a greyscale image. Convert it to RGB?
  15. Aye, easier to explain with pictures of a quick and dirty process B&W image loaded, click levels Select the Red channel and slide the gamma left to around 0.5 (Just as a starting point) Green channel, right to 1.2ish Blue much further, 1.8? Twiddle to taste, or get close then use HSL to nail it ---Or--- You can use recolour to tint it, then HSL again to fine tune: Hope that helps 🙂
  16. Adjustments in the right hand tray, levels RGB gamma adjustments to suit. If it needs livening up, add a HSL level I found it creates artefacts if you merge levels from right clicking, but is fine from the levels menu
  17. yes, I did this in strips then used PS to combine those
  18. Happy to oblige! This was with an APM 107 / 700mm, Daystar Quark Chromosphere and Altair Hypercam 174m
  19. Thank you! This was stitched with MS ICE, which I find can manage small areas fine, but usually throws it's toys out on full disks 🙂 (I have enough capture files to try this later)
  20. 4 panel mosaic covering AR 12978 and the surrounding activity / prom
  21. Adding a significant amount to my earlier 1r40 on M51 taking it up to 5hrs 20min: LRGBHa 107/700mm + asi1600mm + CEM60 L: 60 x 120sec R: 20 x 120sec G: 20 x 120sec B: 20 x 120sec Ha: 20 x 240 sec Processed in PixInsight 100% crop Full FOV:
  22. Argh, the bank balance!!! Thank you! It might be needed if the sun keeps putting on a show 🙂 😁😁
