    Dust anybody? Dust? Mars taken early morning on the 9th of July 2018. Captured in SharpCap, stacked in AutoStakkert, wavelets in RegiStax, edited in PaintDotNet. Saxon 8" Maksutov, SkyWatcher EQ5, ZWO ASI224MC, Celestron UV/IR Cutoff filter. Conditions average with brief patches of good seeing from Mandurah, Western Australia.

    Jupiter and the Great Red Spot taken late in the night on the 8th of July 2018 with two moons in the top right hand corner. Captured in SharpCap, stacked in AutoStakkert, wavelets in RegiStax, edited in PaintDotNet. Saxon 8" Maksutov, SkyWatcher EQ5, ZWO ASI224MC, Celestron UV/IR Cutoff filter. Conditions average with brief patches of good seeing from Mandurah, Western Australia.

    Thanks Si@nite. I didn't realise I'd captured the moons but after stretching levels they were just visible between the noise. Sizes of the moons may not be correct, I had to average the sizes out from surrounding pixels and with the help of a moons reference image from wiki I got them roughly the correct size. According to Stelarium at the time of capture I should've captured a large moon at the back of Saturn but there was nothing there. I'm not sure how accurate Stelarium is with natural satellites though, most large moons are close to their real positions.

    I think the main drawback is the elevation for everyone that far north Pete. I know what it's like when you want to do some planetary. The tides will eventually turn and we'll have the planets low in the sky, something I don't want to think about.

    Saturn and some natural satellites 6th of July 2018. Referring to Stelarium at that time of the night, the moons are from top to bottom Dione, Enceladus, Janus and Tethys. Captured in SharpCap, 1800 best frames stacked in AutoStakkert, wavelets in RegiStax, edited in PaintDotNet. Saxon 8" Mak, SkyWatcher EQ5, ZWO ASI224MC, Celestron UV/IR Cutoff filter. Conditions were average with patches of good seeing but the dew was bad. Location Mandurah, Western Australia.

    Being so low that's some very nice subtle detail and colour Simon. Good stuff.

    The planets here are high in the sky which sure does help although conditions could be much better. Visually you could just make out the shadow as a small fuzzy darker spot in between the wavy seeing. On live view the shadow stood out a little better but there was only a few brief seconds of sharper detail seen and captured in each video. Trying to get out there when ever I can but it's the middle of Winter here.

    My main target early this morning was Crater Clavius but I decided to capture an extra video above and below it as conditions seemed good on live view. Detail could be seem on live view of the inside of the Clavius crater walls with brief glimpses of craterlets and small flows on the crater floor. This image is a vertical 3 pane stitch.     The Gassendi crater (left of image) captured in SharpCap with the ZWO ASI224MC and Celestron Nexstar 8i SCT on the 1st of December 2017 from the backyard. 252 frames aligned and stacked in AutoStakkert, wavelets in RegiStax, edited in PaintDotNet. Location: Mandurah area, Western Australia.

    Taken low in the sky about 35-40 degrees above the horizon with the Sony a5000 ISO 400, 1/100 second and the Celestron Nexstar 8i SCT. The best 24 photos put through PIPP to make an avi video. Alignment and stacking in AutoStakkert, final edit in PaintDotNet Location: Mandurah area Western Australia.

    Thanks happy-cat. The largest central nebula is Eta Carinae, just below to the left of the Carina neb is the Wishing Well cluster NGC 3532. Above the Carina neb is the Pearl Cluster NGC 3766. This is all I've managed to work out. Below is annotated from Astrometry if that helps. I'd be very interested to know the rest too.

    The image below was my second test session with a pre-loved Minolta MD f1.7 lens stopped down to f4 to stop flaring off bright stars which I found to be a problem with my first test with it. Camera used was the Sony a5000 on a tripod with shutter release cable, ISO 3200, f4, 29 x 8 seconds. Aligned and stacked in RegiStar with final editing in PaintDotNet. It was my first good result from a camera lens. Captured on the 14th of November 2017. Location: Suburban backyard Mandurah, south west corner of Western Australia.
