  1. ...cold, wet feet. Wain Wath Force. Sky 10 x 10s, f2.2, iso2500 stacked in Sequator. Foreground ~10 lit, 8s, f4, iso 800. Canon 6D MkII, Sigma 24mm. LR and PS. Cheers Paul.
  2. Very nice. Makes me realise how much more I can/need to do to refine my setup and images!! Cheers Paul
  3. Earlier on in my visual observing journey it would be 1. with a few fillers of favourites. However, it is now definitely 2. favourites nearly all the way!! Whatever the 'scope' 18" dob, 4" frac or bins, I now work my way starhopping all the way along the Milky Way then dip around the outlying Messiers, bright NGCs and asterisms. Awesome! The whole of a dark sky is to be gorged on... ...hope we all get more of them!!! Cheers, Paul.
  4. Storms on Mars are now thought to be the source of the dust visible along the ecliptic. Visible as a diffuse light slanting up from the right towards the moon. The central dust lanes of the Milky Way arc overhead. Sunday 6th March about 20:00. 2 rows of 5 panes, each 4 subs of 8s, f3.5, iso2500. Preprocessed in Lightroom, stacked in Sequator, then MS Image Composite Editor, finished in Photoshop. Canon 6D MkII and Sigma 24mm on Nodal Ninja pano mount. Cheers, Paul.
  5. Zodiacal Light over Swaledale Storms on Mars are now thought to be the source of the dust visible along the ecliptic.
  6. A ruined castle in Mallerstang, Westmorland Dales. Bit of a problem to compose as on steep sided knoll. Sky 10 x 8s, f2.2, iso2500, stacked in Sequator Numerous foreground lit images. Processed in LR and PS. Canon 6D MkII, Sigma 24mm. Cheers, Paul.
  7. Nice. @Catanonia what method/kit do you use to generate flat frames on your RASA? Many thanks Paul
  8. Hi, @Pete Presland yes, no need to 'search' for it. Very good for being in England. I've tried various locations in my area and seem to have found the optimum distances and directions from light pollution!
  9. @Rustang Hi, all on a static mount. The pano mount can be set/indexed to give a specific number of degrees alt or az pan. It is also set to rotate around the entrance pupil of the lens to avoid parallax issues with near objects. Took 4 x 8s, move manually to next position and repeat. Stack each set in Sequator with freeze ground option then throw into MS Image Composite Editor to create pano. Tracked, stacked and stitched panoramas are tricky and you'll probably need to do a Sky Replacement with a static imaged foreground. Paul.
  10. Sunday evening. Was a 'test' of pano skillz as I was dismayed at the star shapes on the 14mm Samyang. A strong breeze had some impact. Canon 6D MkII and Sigma 24mm on Nodal Ninja pano mount. 4 x 4 stacks at 8s, f2.5 and iso1600. LR, Sequator, MS ICE and PS. Hope to revisit. Cheers, Paul.
  11. 16th century pack horse bridge and rising spring star clouds. 10 x 10s, f2.5, iso2500 stacked in Sequator. ~8 foreground 5s, f4, iso800. LR and PS. Canon 6D MkIi, Sigma 24mm. Paul
  12. Well, the ZL is there! Canon 6D MkII, Samyang 14mm (hideous star shapes...). Sky 4 x 15s, f4, iso 1600, foreground ~6 x 5s, f4, iso 800. LR, Sequator and PS. Hope y'all are out under clear skies tonight! Paul P.S. Raisin & Biscuit Yorkie...
  13. An unexpected composition. Went for an image of Orion with just a river foreground and chanced upon this gap in the trees with the bridge! About 20:30 ish Tuesday 22nd. 12 x 10s f2.2, iso2500 sky stacked in Sequator. 3 x 10s, f3.5, iso 800 lit foreground. Canon 6D MkII, Sigma 24mm. LR and PS. Cheers, Paul.
  14. @geeklee couldn't agree more! Paul
  15. Thank you! We have many barns but very few with other features and a good skyline. This has been hiding 250m of steep tussocky hillside from our door
  16. ...checked out a new location during a very brief break in the rain, winds and clouds last night. Hot chocolate preload. Canon 6D MkII, Sigma 24mm. 60 x 30s for stars plus 5 foreground lighting images. LR, StarStax and PS. An unexpected bonus image! Cheers, Paul.
  17. Thank you @davew the hut is small and nearer than it may appear, one set of hand lit images, though did duplicate on different light intensities. Setting up low level lighting is still a faff and you have much greater control/flexibility in post if you hand illuminate. Still looks a tad bright... ...cheers, Paul. P.S. Hot chocolate is the astrophotography equivalent of an isotonic sports drink!
  18. Thank you Paul! Early starts can be quite magical. Unfortunately, the core is very elusive at 54N...cheers, Paul.
  19. 05.00 this morning. All untracked. 10 x 10s, iso 2500, f2.2 sky. ~20 x 5s, f4, iso 800 light painted foreground. 1 x 20s f2.2, iso800 selfie silhouette. Canon 6D MkII, Sigma 24mm. LR, Sequator and PS. A small bridge from the lead mining era. Remains of peat store, for furnace, on the horizon. Modern shooting hut. Hot chocolate as it was -6C. Cheers, Paul.
  20. About 21:00 on Friday. Swaledale, N. Yorkshire. Blizzard on arrival. Cowering beside car. Hot chocolate!! Only 38 frmes. Canon 6D MkII, Sigma 50mm ART. 5s, f1.8, iso 1600. LR, PS, VSDC (video editor). Faint arc and beams to naked eye. Timelapse of 4 min activity, repeats and a single frame. HD version, 4K shows the noise much better Paul Feb aurora HD x4.mp4
