  1. If all else fails try putting into the freezer for half an hour then the shoes as quickly as possible after removal.
  2. You had better be at Galloway in October. I need to have a look see. Looks the bees knees ! Then again knew it would.
  3. If you do attempt it yourself make sure you cool the job very slowly. If cooled too fast aluminium welds can crack. They need long slow and controlled cooling. I had a an aluminium petrol (bike) tank many years ago and it was welded several times and cracked every time. But that was a long time before mig welding took off. May all be different now. Derek

    Atmospheric, very nice photo. Derek
  5. Damian did you actually try a friction test on the formica before you bought it?
  6. At present Trying to convince the other half to make one.
  7. Yes, really sorry to hear of all this trouble. Whatever happens, I hope you get sorted quickly. Never nice not knowing if you are secure in work.
  8. Nice set of pics Damian. A lot of careful work there. But do you never sleeeeeep????
  9. That's a really nice neat job. Like the images. Good to see you getting some use out of all the hard work. If the flooring expands will it move and be able to touch the pier? I only ask as I floored out the living room several years ago and it moved more than it was expected to do. Radiator pipes now are touching the holes cut oversized to give clearance. I know you can easily adjust your cover but it may happen without you noticing at first. Derek
  10. Oh Dear Ian, I missed that connection, it is a pie measuring device in disguise! Derek
  11. Yup, I was not seeing where the wires went.
  12. Puzzled, why two wires if you used the vane? Or am I missing something? Derek
  13. Yes I tape the bits, but that does not always stop the glue migrating through the wood under the tape.
  14. I would rather too much glue than not enough! Easily wiped of later when almost set, as I am sure you did. Having seen your work, I could not fault it even if I wanted too. Really nice job Damian. Derek
  15. Yes I replaced my Kitty blade with another make but it is slightly smaller diameter. Not accurate for depth of cut but not a worry as I use a ht gauge/ test cut. Interesting about the bearings though! My 300mm planer thicknesser is holding up bags of cement at present ! Like Mike said, don't know how you get the time! But good reading. Derek
  16. Hi Damian, Got the same Kitty saw and Big router. Nice to see someone with the space to fit the moving table to the saw. Mine is still in its packing. Was intended for next house with a proper workshop. At least I know what it will look like What blade are you using? I bought the finest tooth I could specifically for the breakout problems. Keep it coming. Derek
  17. Tanks and bulldozers have them as well. Or at least some do.
  18. Very interesting reading Damian. Thanks, I see where you pictures of the secondary support came from. You definitely put some effort in to this project. Derek
  19. Thanks I will have a look at that.
  20. Thanks Damian. Must admit I am a bit surprised, after all you measure the mirror with a sling. So I was expecting some sort of sling like support to spread the load of the mirror, instead of at only 4 points! As I said before (probably several times ) you learn summit every day. How is it going, can't wait for a look see. Derek
  21. I thought that the mirror sat in a sling? I noticed the 4 contact points on the arms. So sling or just those points? Derek
