      Work. Doing some visits in Turkey before I move onto the UK where I am going to live again..20+ yeasr away in Asia

  2. Off for a dinner with Mrs Baggy before I head to the airport. She will be joining me later in the UK when we have somewhere to live. First a week in Turkey doing some business...and trying some wine.

      Have also packed a bodhran in case I can get to some decent folk music venues...been playing for 20 years now. Even had 2 Irish pubs in Shanghai

  3. a little over 24 hours and I am out of here. May weekend in China means extra interuption on the web and huge q's on the roads

      It used to be OK, but the leadership in Beijing while appearing more opne have cracked down on dissent and any media they cannot control...

      Right on the nail...if the sky is clear whwre I live mag 2 stars are about the best you can see.

  10. The Govt in Beijing is adding even more layers to the Great Firewall of China. BBC now blocked again, along with New Scientist, Guardian, etetc. 3 weeks to go!

  13. Picked up a chest infection on the flight back from Taiwan...scraped my car against the neighbours...3 hours down the local nick to sort it out...4 weeks and I am out of here!

  17. Yes the lower the ep number the more powerfull. Divide the focal lenght of the OTA by the ep focal length to get the magnification. But as I said a rule of thumb for max power is roughly 2x the objective diameter of the OTA. The SE4 is roughly 100mm so 2x100=200 the max working power. BUT it also depends on seeing. If the atmosphere is warm and there are lots of thermals then the image will wobble, increase the power and you get more wobbles and often blurring. The 9mm should give decent views of Jupiter. But in general terms work from low power upwards, you can then judge the deterioration, if any, as you increase the power. Using the barlow helps, but it can mean a less brighter image (and less contrast) as there is effectively more glass between the object being viewed and your eye.
