  1. In a similar vein to @vlaiv's post, I am also looking for advice on an eyepiece - but really have next to knowledge of them....

The objective is to use when conditions are not ideal for imaging, and will be used on my f/5.5 Esprit 100 and f/5.8 ED72. In the future, there will be a dobsonian in the family - f/4 to f/6 I would think. Casual wide-ish field observing is most likely to be the immediate plan rather than high-powered details - but of course, if the bug bites, then that would change.

I have a budget of around £230, but could push it - so it does not need to be one piece..

    Options I have looked at:

    • Tele-vue Panoptice 19mm: Consumes all the budget, but I guess there's a reason for that!
    • Pentax XW 20mm: Again, consumes the whole budget, slightly wider AFOV at 70d than then Panoptic
    • Vixen SLV's: After reading comments in Vlaiv's post, these could be a good option. 25mm & 10mm ?. 50d APOV
    • Baader Hyperion: I had one of these in the past (years!) and seem to remember they were good. Is this still the case?  68d APOV

Are these sensible, would you recommend any others?

    Thanks for any input/advice!

  2. Are the TIFFS because you are stacking in DSS then bringing into PI to process?

If so, could you stack in PI and produce the .xisf or .fits files? And do you have the master darks/flats/bias to go with them?

May as well have the full stack to play with :D

  3. Hi Radek

Many thanks for your reply - it turns out I am an idiot!! Although I was spelling the name of my SSID correctly, I was ignoring capitalisation!

As soon as I corrected that and rebooted, I can now again connect to my AB Server! Yay!!!

So, onwards to retry the VAP!!

    Thanks!!

  4. So, I WAS able to connect my astroberry server to my WLAN and remote onto it via the browser.... (note, was!!)

I decided tonight to try and get the VAP working so I could connect in the field, and this is where it all went wrong!!  I was not able to connect to the RPi at all using the 'astroberry' VAP, although my Ubuntu client 'seemed' to connect and receive an IP address. No matter what I tried (browser, VNC) I could not connect.

So, I went back to my WLAN to try and figure things out, and now it won't connect to the WLAN at all... I've tried a static IP address, but that didn't work and now I get a "No DHCPOFFERS received" message when I restart the wlan0 interface! I can only access by plugging into the device with screen/keyboard/mouse, I can't remote to it at all...

The wpa_supplicant file shows the network correctly, and I have even deleted the entry and redone the wlanconf but still no joy!

    Aaarrggh!!

Hopefully @RadekK spots this :) but anyone shed any light in the meantime? I'd like to get back to it working on the WLAN before I try the VAP again!!

    Ta...
