OK, whizzed down ASCOM and installed...
Once you have set up the equipment profile, go to your sequence.
On the right hand side is the equipment to connect - Camera, Filter, Focuser and Telescope. Underneath is a thin button with an arrow. Click this and an additional panel opens to allow you to select other equipment:
Flat Box, Rotator, Observatory, Weather Station.
You then click the spanner to set the parameters - I don't have the driver for the AAG installed, so can't see these.

It's in the latest version...
Tools -> Equipment Profile Manager -> Other
There is now an option for weather station...
I don't have ASCOM or the AAG installed on this machine, so can't help with any other settings at the moment...

Steve,
I'll distract Jane with Hog Roast and wine, while you mumble about a needed IP-thingy that Daz says you need... I have broad shoulders
Do I assume that the definitions of 'clear' or 'dark' are set within the AAG application?
(I have yet to install & play with mine...)

You may want to also consider something like http://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Networking_-_Wired/IP_Power/38561-9258HP for the remote management of power.. (sorry to add to your cost base!)
Also, a good thread here which may have some other nuggets... http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/archive/index.php/t-108878.html
And I have just acquired the cloud watcher so will be interested in findings from you and others...

Does anyone know where to get things like replacement EQ6 counterweight bolts - with the nylon end?
-
It will certainly be an issue at your end Mark - works OK for everybody, pretty much. Works for me on my PC, tablet and Linux box at work
-
Definitely - this is something I want to do ASAP - I am thinking a small version for signatures and the like and a larger version to embed in webpages (BAS?)
Yes, BAS, mine, SGL...

Feature request....
Could you do a mini-panel that can be grabbed from another site?
So, I could have a link to my location for (say) current day just showing the coloured boxes, which then links to the full, feature-rich site?

@jimao22
What does the log file tell you?
-
Well, your last post said you were reloading Windows....
We are not mind-readers. We don't know if you have finished installing everything unless you tell us!
-
I actually got a plate solve using that very method Gina, worked a treat!
I did a re-install of AT, as I think I had got the wrong reference files before....

Just to add to this thread that I have been using the settings proposed in the tutorial for several nights now and using 2x2 binning and a 10 second exposure (with a Luminance filter), I get very fast plate solving times of under one minute. This is on my netbook, too! It has a slow CPU, 2GB RAM and a 64GB SSD.
Jealous....
I will persevering though!
-
Jimao22 - not all of us are having success ....
Anyway, looking at your screenshots, I would say that AT is not able to connect to the camera to take the image....
Have you tried without using Maxim, and just connecting directly to the ASCOM driver for the camera?

Would something like this work?

Does anyone have an opto-isolated circuit for the FTDI cable?
There seem to be about a trillion different ICs out there and I don't know if I'd need extra components to make it work??
My FTDI lead works perfectly, but slightly nervous about a direct connection....
-
Another big +1 from me for TS. Spent a lot of time in conversation with Patrick before ordering my new GSO RC 8". He was very patient and very helpful!
Scope was delivered a week after ordering, and the tracking process worked flawlessly!

Thanks Chris

I just want to check before I blow the mount up ....
If I get the 5v FTDI lead as posted above, I just need to wire the cable to the right pins on the serial d-type for my EQ6. I DON'T need to do the extra bits with the transistor/resistor - that was only to bring the 3.3v to 5v
Thx

You could also use the Monthly Observing guides - http://stargazerslounge.com/forum/57-observing-monthly-guides/ and use Stellarium to check positions and where the objects are
-
With that in mind, could someone clearly list the best lead to use please? I have no idea what the TTL and FTDI thingies mean.....!!
I only need a short lead as my USB hub is on the side of the mount.

Yes, this mod replaces the serial EQDIR module and allows a direct USB connection to the HEQ5.
In the first post, there is a link to the pin-out for the EQ6 (http://eq-mod.sourceforge.net/eqdirect_232.png - look at the 'To EQ6 mount bit')
Am interested in this myself as I have an EQDIR and a USB-SERIAL in my train, and this would simply things....
-
Thanks Chris
I shall watch this thread with interest....

For a non-engineering layman, what advantage does this mod offer?

Indeed.
I shall be upgrading my version at home in the next few days and then start testing with my AAG. It will be sometime before I get to automate the roof, but something like a loud hailer going off will be just fine for now
